How to Use Our Kits

Initial Setup & Requirements

Note: The entire collection and packaging process should take about 15 minutes. Make sure you collect and return the sample on the same day.

  • Find a comfortable spot to collect your sample.

  • Gather a timer, a small mirror (to monitor the collection), and a pen (to record your information).

  • Optional: You may need a razor to remove any excess hair from the test site.

Phase 1: Preparation

  1. Wash your hands. (Healthcare workers must wear gloves during collection).

  2. Unpack the device: Open the protective package from the corner and remove the Tasso+ device.

  3. Attach the tube: Twist to remove the tube cap. Insert the tube into the device by pressing until it is snug. Make sure the fill lines are facing outward. (Note: Tube cap colors and fill lines may vary by kit).

  4. Warm the test site: Activate the supplied heat pack and place it on the test site for 2 minutes (use your timer). If a heat pack is not provided or fails to activate, firmly rub the site with your hand to increase blood flow.

  5. Clean the site: Wipe the test site with an alcohol pad and allow it to air dry completely.

Phase 2: Collection

  1. Prepare the device: Remove the clear plastic button cover, then peel the adhesive tab off the back of the device.

  2. Apply the device: With your arm hanging straight down at your side, stick the device securely to the cleaned test site.

  3. Activate: Firmly press the red button down and release it. Do not press the button more than once.

  4. Monitor the flow: Start a 5-minute timer. You can use a mirror to watch the tube fill. It may take 1 to 2 minutes before blood appears.

  5. Remove the device: Once the blood reaches the top fill line -or the 5-minute timer goes off - gently remove the device by peeling it off from one side.

  6. Seal the tube: Remove the collection tube from the device with a slight twist and pull downward. Place the cap tightly on the tube by pressing until it snaps closed.

  7. Mix the sample: Gently invert the tube 10 times to mix the blood. You can tap or flick the tube to get the blood moving. (Note: Any gel inside the tube will not mix with the blood).

  8. Bandage: Stop any bleeding on your arm by applying a bandage.

Phase 3: Packaging & Shipping

  1. Label the tube: Write your date of birth on the tube label if one is provided.

  2. Bag the sample: Place the sealed sample tube into the return bag and seal it. Record the sample collection time and date on the outside of the return bag.

  3. Box the sample: If you are using the original Tasso box for the return, empty out any remaining items and place the labeled sample bag inside.

  4. Seal and ship: Peel the adhesive backing off the box, seal it closed, and follow the provided shipping instructions to return your sample.

  5. Clean up: Dispose of all used materials according to your local guidelines or procedures, and wash your hands.
